The holder of this post will report to the Head of the Feasibility Studies Section. He will provide support in the definition of the relevant programmatic and technical tasks as well as in the daily management of Feasibility Study activities in the frame of the ARTES 20 programme. He will be in charge of implementing feasibility studies with the aim of detecting and developing new space based applications leveraging on the synergy of different space infrastructures (e.g. satellite communication, earth observation, satellite navigation, human space flight, etc.).
The holder of this post will perform:
• consolidation of user needs and their translation into system and service requirements including integration of space and non-space elements
• identification of added value to be achieved by the integrated solution and the involved space assets
• definition of the application architecture, including interfaces and interoperability between different space and non-space systems
• initiation of activities and studies related to the area of responsibility
• preparation of tenders and evaluation of proposals
• implementation and management of feasibility studies
• provision of technical support in the area of responsibility and coordination of support provided by other ESA Directorates
• contribution to the preparation of the yearly Feasibility Studies workplan and of subsequent demonstration projects
• liaison with user and stakeholder communities in the area of responsibility
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants for this position should have a university degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering and have significant and sound experience in the domains covered by this position with a specific emphasis in the space based application domain (involving space technologies like satellite communication, earth observation, satellite navigation, human space flight, etc).
