Our central goal is the large-scale permanent settlement of space. We believe that free markets and free enterprise will become an unstoppable force in the irreversible settlement of this new frontier.

Team SYNERGY MOON, offical Google Lunar X PRIZE team

InterPlanetary Ventures, the Human Synergy Project, and Interorbital Systems have joined forces to become SYNERGY MOON, the newest team to enter the Google Lunar X PRIZE race to the Moon. With working groups in 15 countries, the SYNERGY MOON team actively promotes international cooperation in space exploration and development. SYNERGY MOON will use a lunar-direct launch of an Interorbital Systems’ modular NEPTUNE rocket to carry a lunar lander and at least one rover to the surface of the Moon before the end of 2012. That rover will, at a minimum, travel 500 meters across the lunar surface, and transmit video, images, and data back to Earth. SYNERGY MOON will prove that an international, private-sector team can do what has never been done before: move private enterprise into space beyond Earth orbit.

California Space Authority Board Member Celeste Volz Ford commented on the link between science and the humanities, "For the space enterprise community to maintain its edge in the global space market, our future workforce is going to consist of engineers who think like artists and artists who think like engineers.” Speaking on the future of space exploration, Nicolas Peter, a research fellow at the European Space Policy Institute, commented “This adventure will be driven primarily by a quest for knowledge, involving not only the hard sciences, but arts and humanities as well.” The SYNERGY MOON team is unique in that its members personify an eccentric, electrifying merge of the arts and sciences.

InterPlanetary Ventures (IPV) is a membership-based corporation that provides opportunities for members to get involved in space-related activities, and to achieve their space-related goals. Kevin Myrick is IPV’s founder and SYNERGY MOON’s X PRIZE Team Leader. He is both a technologist and practicing theatrical designer. IPV’s mission is to increase the number people supporting space exploration and development, and to do whatever it can to assist in the creation of the technological and financial infrastructure required to support humanity’s expansion throughout the Solar System---a goal entirely aligned with all members of the SYNERGY MOON team. “People first went to the Moon during my first year in high school (1968), and the last man left the Moon during my first year in college (1972). I want to be involved in getting back to the Moon, to stay! The Google Lunar X PRIZE provides an excellent opportunity to get people interested and involved once again in space exploration and development.”

The Human Synergy Project (HSP) brings together people and organizations from all over the world---combining their many different talents, and allowing them to work towards a common goal. Nebojsa Stanojevic is Director of the Human Synergy Project. He is an adventurer, documentary filmmaker, editor, producer, and an ardent explorer. Nebojsa is currently fully devoted to collaborating and networking with ‘positive’ projects around the world. Living and working for the last 20 years in a wide variety of countries has given him the opportunity to meet many creative people of diverse ages, races, genders, and professions. This global experience enabled him to create human synergy in its truest form. He feels that competing in The Google Lunar X PRIZE is his most challenging project. Nebojsa will act as SYNERGY MOON’s international promotion and productions coordinator, with both his April 10th-12th Yuri’s Night/SYNERGY MOON event in Guatemala, and the 4X4 Around the World Expedition already in the works.

Established in Mojave, California, in 1996, launch provider Interorbital Systems (IOS) develops and manufactures low-cost, manned and unmanned orbital launch vehicles for commercial, academic, and military applications. IOS’ rockets are designed to be launched from land or sea. All SYNERGY MOON lunar launches will be conducted on ocean-based flights of the IOS NEPTUNE rocket. Roderick Milliron, IOS’ President/ CTO/Co-Founder, leads the rocket team as Chief Engineer. Like a majority of SYNERGY MOON’s team, he is also a scientist/artist. Roderick is an applied mathematician and chemist, who worked as an aerospace engineer for seven years before starting his own software companies, and Interorbital Systems. He is also a university instructor in Chemistry; an electronic musician; a science fiction writer, an actor, and a film director. Randa Relich Milliron, IOS’ CEO/Co-Founder, serves as Chief Media Liaison for both Interorbital Systems and SYNERGY MOON. Randa is an award-winning television and film director/producer; an electronic musician; an events promoter/producer (CSA’s Space Style 2007 Fashion Show); a Professor of Communication at the University of Phoenix; and a specialist in the creation of high-temperature composite materials for IOS’ rocket applications.

InterPlanetary Ventures CEO Kevin Myrick leads the team management group, members from all the teams’ working groups. They will manage all aspects of team Synergy Moons technology developments. Boris Petrovic (Serbia) and Anton Volkonskiy (Russia) of the Human Synergy Project are the teams Project Manager and Quality Assurance Director.

Human Synergy Project Director Nebojsa Stanojevic (Bosnia),Cian McClelland (South Africa), Bill McCoy (US), Zeljko Vranjevac (Serbia), Guy Lieberman (Israel), Ivan Brgic (Croatia) and Petra Grawe (Germany) will work on media and event production for the team. Their efforts will bring the Google Lunar X PRIZE and our team the attention of a new generation, the next generation, many of whom are unaware of the synergies between space exploration and development, and the benefits they bring for life on Earth.
Darian Robbins (US), Juan Carlos Sagastume and Polo Policarpo Rosales (Guatemala) will work with the arts and humanities group, providing the spiritual and cultural links between our history and our future.

Dr. Edin Omerdic (Bosnia & Herzegovina), Dr. Palitha Dassanayake and Rameesha De Silva (University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka) lead work on our lunar rovers. All are award winning roboticists. They are creating some of the most unique planetary rovers ever concieved.

Mark Posen of RPC Telecom (United Kingdom) is heading up the telecommunications group, working with Gerard Auvray (France) and Theo Maxey (US) to develop our communications strategies and the equipment that will keep us in touch with the landers, rovers and transport vehicles. Mark is also dealing with the teams regulatory and licensing issues.

Sayandeep Khan (India) will work with an international group which includes members from Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS), the Space Generation Congress (SGC), Team One of India and the Science Popularization Association of Communicators and Educators youth program (S.P.A.C.E. India). They are developing a research applications for the rover and automated moon base, and will assemble and test components and systems to be used in the rovers and spacecraft. Their testing will include suborbital rocket launches to test these systems in space. These research applications are designed and will be managed by our Science Officer and Principle Investigator of the team, geophysicist and planetary scientist Brian Shiro (US). Tony Bradley (US) is developing our Ground Control operations, getting everything ready for the operational phase of this project.

Each of these groups includes many more people in support roles too numerous to name, but all extremely important to the success of the team and the mission.

The robotic players complete the SYNERGY MOON team. These include a Tesla Robotic Rover with HD cameras to capture video of its travels on the Moon, and second rover for research and prospecting duties. These rovers will expand to become automated lunar exploration and development bases.

SYNERGY MOON is a team driven by the quest for knowledge and freedom, by the need for adventure, by synergistic global cooperation, and by the high romance of Science.
