LPI's John Lindsay 1941 - 2008

From Dr. Clive R. Neal, a message from Steve Mackwell Director of the Lunar & Planetary Institute
June 20 - Houston: It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of John F. Lindsay at the age of 67. John, who was a visiting scientist on the staff of the Lunar and Planetary Institute, died early this morning after a valiant battle against cancer.
John's education was in soft…

Challenges ahead for New Space Investors

NEW YORK — New startups hoping to make their mark on the space industry still face high entry barriers just to cover their initial costs, investors said Wednesday. The high cost and risks associated with new commercial ventures, as well as the bureaucratic government hoops they have to jump through, provide substantial barriers for nascent companies aiming for space, experts said during the 2008 Space Business Forum here presented by the Space Foundation, a non-profit advocacy organization. Ac… Continue

This is absolutely so cool! What a wonderful group. I look forward to corresponding with all.
I am a rare woman Aerospace Engineer who worked on Apollo and the Saturn V. I love rockets.
I love Space Exploration. We just returned from viewing the launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery at the Cape. What a thrill! I will add more later.

Surely , Great wish, as long as gravity and combination of centripetal and centrifugal force hold the fort , our solar system will not sets on our IASE.

You know, it's all good. We need to leverage our competetive nature. We need to get out into space and expand our goals. The old way was to be the first, or the fastest and best. The forward thinking paradigm should unite the clans. Our planet's resources are finite, but brain power is sustainable energy! The Chinese lunar rover is a new workhorse.

Hey Joel,
Following up, privately as it were, on your public comment about incubators "stealing your ideas". Well, you know I did join the Space Angels Network. And in disclosing my Garage-to-Orbit (TM) plans, I also made quite clear that I have my patents pending and I have trademarks that cover the various pieces of my plan.
See? Even here I did NOT neglect to inform you that Garage-to-Orbit is my trademark-my own intellectual property.
Now, obviously should somebody fund, build and start operating my own ideas without me, I would have to give them notice to cease and desist and wait til my pending patents became issued - keeping a careful watch on what they do and earn.
But at least I will have a recourse. Without the pending patents, and the trademarks there is none and you are just "blowing in the wind."
So earlier, you told me that you were interested in patenting some of your developments. Well I remind you to do it. And I remind you I can write those things up.

Thanks for the warm welcome Joel. I'm looking forward to participating in this community.

I can't tell you how many times people try to call this place "Lou'vule." (although I do admit its fun to try) The second most common mispronunciation is "Lui'ville," as the French might say. But here in Colorado, USA it's just plain old, easy to pronounce "Louis'ville." Thanks for checking in!
